Omer Caspi, Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei Representative, Visits the College and Is Left with Deep Impression of Local Hakka Culture

The afternoon of October 15th, Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei Representative Omer Caspi paid a visit to the College.

Representative Caspi was welcomed by College Dean Huang Shaw-Herng and Associate Professor Lo Lieh-Shih.

Representative Caspi has long had a deep interest in Taiwan’s traditions, history, and cultures.

With arrangements specially made by NCTU’s Global Research & Industry Alliance (GLORIA) Headquarters, Representative Caspi visited the College’s round building as well as the historic Zhongxiao Hall and the Smaller Wenli Hall .

It was the first time the parties had met, so the conversation was very lively. Associate Professor Lo gave a special tour, demonstrating some of the traditional Hakka features and history of the Lin Family Ancestral Shrine and the Dafudi (“Official’s Residence”) , both next to the College. These helped make a deep impression of local Hakka culture on the Representative.
